Removing items from your sitemap

What is a sitemap?

A sitemap is a document that links to every page on your site. Search engines like Google and Bing use sitemaps to discover and index pages on your site. You can learn further about it in our article What is a sitemap?.

Removing a page from your sitemap

By default, Shopify generates a sitemap file that includes all links to all of your pages. In some cases, you may want to remove a page from the sitemap and hide it from search engines. If you set the noindex flag to prevent Google from indexing a page, you may also want to remove it from the sitemap as well.

To remove a page from the sitemap: select the “remove from sitemap” option and click save.
